You only get one spin of the wheel.
Most of us live mediocre lives because we are afraid of doing things which make us look unintelligent and incapable.
Are you living for people who don’t even know you? Or do you live for yourself?
If you live for yourself, you are willing to look like an idiot. If you’re not willing to look like an idiot, you inevitably stay stuck.
Starting something new is never going to be easy.
But doing hard things will teach you precious lessons.
Doing hard things will make you feel temporarily stupid. Not doing hard things because of fear of external judgement will torment you for the rest of your life.
Be the idiot and you quickly realise it’s not so bad after all.
Repeatedly be the idiot and you’ll end up being the smartest person in the room.
say no to change if you want to live below your potential
You’re told not to take life too seriously.
It’s an excuse people internalise to not work so hard, so they can kick their feet up and relax. ‘Embrace the ups and downs. Enjoy the ride’. While this is true, you’re going to enjoy life far more if you work hard and pursue the things you really want. Then, you can relax when you have earned it.
If you take life seriously, you will work on projects which fuel you.
Living day by day, with no plan, is really messy.
You receive signals you could be doing more. You wake up feeling slow, unmotivated and bamboozled. You are not even scared of what’s ahead because you’re not working towards something. You get into bed and don’t even reflect on anything you’ve done with your day. Sleep. Ready to repeat the same tomorrow.
And you only live once, why wouldn’t you want to see what you’re capable of?
You will continue to live a mediocre life if you do not embrace change.
Change is good. Change is necessary. Change is an essential experience you must regularly tap into in order to grow and evolve into a better version of yourself. Most people only change when something in their external environment changes. But take the initiative and change internally. Do not wait for something on the outside to change.
Change internally in order to see what you’re capable of.
starting something new is never meant to be easy
What you don’t know can actually kill you.
I remember when I started this newsletter. It felt like the hardest thing I’d ever done. When you learn new things, you feed your brain new information. It’s all new. Most people will give up because new things challenge their internally perceived level of intelligence.
Learn what you don’t know so you can evolve and live a more fulfilling life.
Failure will teach you everything you’ll ever need to know about yourself.
All success is rooted in your willingness to fail. The more you fail, the higher your chances of success. At least you’re trying to hit the target. One of them is going to land. You miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t go for.
If you’re not willing to look like an idiot, you won’t learn.
If you don’t learn, you don’t grow.
If you don’t grow, you are going to remain stuck.
If you remain stuck, you’re not fulfilling your potential.
If you’re not fulfilling your potential, you live a mediocre life.
When you live a mediocre life, your last thoughts on your deathbed will be everything you could’ve and should’ve done.
So do something new.
Be willing to look like an idiot.
If you don’t, you miss out on new opportunities which may transform your life.
everyone is worried about their self-image
Remember the time in school when you didn’t understand something?
And you didn’t raise your hand to ask a question because you feared everyone would start treating you like a dummy. In the end, the only idiot in the room is you. Why not ask something you’re not sure about? You would have learned something new if only you had the courage to embrace looking like an idiot.
You can save yourself so much time if you’re willing to look like an idiot.
But as you age, you still behave in a manner which is seen as socially acceptable.
When you behave as others expect you to, I promise you’ll be very unhappy. Deep down, you feel like an idiot because you know it’s not where you belong. You neglect to embrace the version of yourself you really want to portray and be. You are not being true to yourself.
You do not live in accordance with what you stand for.
The world today has been built by the people who decided to go against the grain.
People who pursued their own ambitions. People who wanted to see what they were capable of. All of them looked like idiots at the start. Nobody understood their motivation. They were labeled as crazy.
Sitting back, relaxing, and watching what everyone else is accomplishing? This is way more crazy to me.
In the end, the only image of the self which matters is what you think of yourself.
be willing to fail to ensure success
If you have the determination, you will undoubtedly find a way.
Be willing to fail every single day and internalise the lessons as part of your journey. Every time you fail, you learn something invaluable. Failure equips you with the experience you require to behave more strategically the next time.
Men of action will fail. But men of action will also have more luck in life.
Fail now → Look like an idiot temporarily.
Avoid failure now → Be an idiot forever.
Embrace looking like the biggest idiot in the room. If you do this, you will eventually be victorious. Everyone’s going to doubt you at first. And this is fine. What matters most is your courage even in the face of continuous criticism.
Looking like an idiot is temporary, regret is permanent.
Your life will be unrecognisable a year from now if you take the time each day to do something which makes you feel like an idiot.
You’re going to feel like an idiot in the moment. But it will pass.
Eventually, you are no longer the biggest idiot in the room.
Everyone begins to think you’re the smartest person in the room.
I’m tired of looking like an idiot in private. Now I’ll look like one for everyone in the room to see.
Failure will teach you everything you’ll ever need to know about yourself. ⬅️ Very well said! 👏👍💪✌️🙏😊
